Margaret Hamilton Fishing in a frock.

Postby Tommy L » Thu Jul 24, 2014 11:16 pm

This story all started Wednesday afternoon when Margaret brought a nephew to Magiscroft to purchase some bait to fish Broadwood. Having seen the fishery she was so impressed that she brought some of her family to fish Wednesday evening.

On Thursday Margaret turned back up at the fishery with her nephew again and said that she wanted to catch carp. She purchased all the equipment she needed to do so and was taken to the bankside to fish the splash waggler. Margaret did some trout fishing last year and had some knowledge of how a rod and reel worked. The rod was set up for her and 10 mins instruction on the basics took place. There were a few indications but no carp.

I went away up to the shop and on my return was just too late to see Margaret lose an 8Lb carp at the net. Paul Alexander fishing the next peg estimated the weight of the fish. Margaret was not to be put off and got stuck in and even was learning to catapult to a degree that the pellets always made the water.

The fish then started to arrive and Margaret started to lead the banter as she got more excited as the fish got bigger and the numbers increased. She was winding up Frankie across the Loch and Paul on the next peg and James her nephew who has still to catch a fish. The banter was great. Frankie's daughter Sophie and Margaret's niece Kelsey were also catching on whips and started to get into the carp with Kelsey getting burst by a carp and Sophie landing a carp.

A good night was had by all and a few photographs taken.

Nice one Tommy, great post, I was indeed fishing the next peg, and assisted Margaret land a couple when you had to attend to shop business, the banter was great going from peg to peg and across the loch, a good night, well done to all and the young ones on some nice catches.

Thank you Tommy for once again showing me your endless expertise on the top fishing, I thoroughly enjoyed it and ended up catching 52 fish roughly about 40lb in weight, but also to poor Ronnie who has to put up with my endless calamities lol, he had to fish out my pole as it was dragged into the water lol, thanks Ronnie, I really am going to try and behave, honest.
