new year Pikey - Double Double.... 17Lb + 19Lb

Another smashing day at the croft. was myself so pictures aren't great.. bit wet and windy with a blizzard of hale stones late morning. but cant beat having the main loch to yourself all day :D

2x pike before lunch... adrenaline pumping.... everytime. One caught up in the water 5ft on float, another caught 12ft fledger.

ADVICE TO ANYONE WHO SEEMS TO BE BLANKING.
- Don't sit at the same peg all day.
- Try a variety of baits.
- Recast every 10 minutes.

Today I fished roughly 25 - 30 pegs, 2x rods probably 150-200 casts.... walked the whole loch 2 times, jumping every 5-10 casts. Hard work but with its rewards.

Rig 1 consisted of 2.75 Lb T.C. rod, 15Lb mainline - stop bead - bead - large carp pellet waggler - bead - 7g bullet weight - bead - 25Lb trace with 1x shot weight in middle of trace. Rig fished 2-3ft over depth., larger float for windy conditions at distance.

Rig 2 consisted of 2.75Lb T.C. rod, 15Lb mainline - stop bead - bead - drifter dart float 30g? - bead - quick change uptrace - 25Lb trace with 2x shot weight in middle of trace. Fished at a total depth of 5-6ft. with the wind doing the work.

Hook sizes on trace - Treble 8 barbless. Smaller the better.
Both fished on bite alarms, using the bait runner.

very nice mate....that was our problem for the first few visits...sat around in one spot too long...on one occasion though I decided to walk to the bottom end of pond...seconds after bait hit water the float was gone....missed the fish though lol
A bad days fishing is still better than a good day at the office

Aye 90% of the fish I had took the bait either straight away before I could put rod down or within 5mins max. and big fish but seem to like smaller baits.
