The Daiwa sponsored Scottish Junior Coarse Fishing Championship ran in conjunction with the SFCA who supplied the Trophies was fished at Magiscroft Fishery Cumbernauld today Saturday 29th August 2009. There were 28 anglers turned up to compete in the two age groups with 12 contesting the 13s and under age group and 16 contesting the 14s and over age group. The anglers were aged from 9 to 17 years old including two girls.

The match was fished on Magiscrofts Island Pond taking up 28 of the 30 pegs which done away with the so called advantage end pegs. The weather was mainly dry but the wind was unkind as it gusted all day long making good presentation impossible for the Junior anglers. The match was fished from 11am until 3pm. Although it wasn't an easy match to fish all the youngsters gave it their best effort throughout the 4 hours.

Just want to say thanks to Tommy, Peter and Willie for yet another well organised event and to Daiwa for sponsorship. It was a great day for all the kids even if the weather was unkind to them.

Congratulations to young James who triumphed over a headache and the other anglers to win the under 14. He must have been associating with Derek Brady because he was insisting he only had 2 or 3lb.

I was really pleased to see Ben win. He's always willing to help anyone, he's daft keen and always a pleasure to have a blether with. Good on you big yin and I hope you enjoy your new pole.

Would like to thank all Magiscroft's managment who ran this great event again. Thanks to all who turned up and well fished on what seemed like a hard days fishin  Im absolute over the moon with my result and really it was down to the peg. Always new a winner would come from either 9, 10 or 11 and when I drew 10 I new I had a decent chance. Chub was the order of the day and once youve got em goin youll bag up! Next year will be my last year in the Juniors so lets hope we get another crakin match next year ;)

Thanks Again

Well done to everyone who took part. Well done Tommy for not only helping with the organization of the event but for a terrific match report once again. Well done to big Ben for winning the over 14's individual, delighted for you mate. Got off on the wrong foot with Ben but now that I know him he's a really good lad. Well done again big man.

Got to mention also, it's hard enough trying to compete with the Woody's, George Glens and Davy Corcorrans of this world without the added pressure of looking over your shoulder at all these young up and coming guys coming through too. The future of our sport is in safe hands thanks to guys like Wullie Sinclair, Peter Mitchell and Tommy Lauriston. :D :D :D
