Eight anglers turned out to fish the match on a cold windy day on The Top Pond. The Match was fished from 11am till 4pm on a day the pond fished rock hard other than Barry Morgans Peg which was a Golden Peg. Barry caught 15Lbs-2ozs of Carp to trounce the combined weights of all the other anglers.

During the match with all the anglers permission Ronnie started pumping water up from the Main Loch which helped a little for those catching in the later stages.

Geoff Lowe was 2nd with 3Lbs-15ozs and Roz beat Bryan Hewitt by and ounce to take 3rd Place weighing 3Lbs-3ozs.

Well done to all for never giving up on the day and to Barry for winning from a Golden Peg in great style.

This Sunday it's the FED Match on both the Island and Top Ponds.

It's strange that the fish weren't really feeding like nutters today. It was 17 celsius, but perhaps felt colder in the east wind. I wonder if fish just don't like an easterly, regardless of how warm it is. It was tough going on the main loch this morning too, and I'd expected a cracker of a session.

Well done to Barry and all that fished.

I started the match sat fishing with no jacket and felt comfortable. When as you say the Easterly Winds got up I suffered the cold for an hour before giving in and putting on my jacket. It was a real cold one today Johnathon. Was the only match at Magiscroft I haven't enjoyed and learned from, two positive bites for two fish.

Well done all for tenacity in sitting out what turned out to be a hard day. I walked the whole complex today and saw onĺy one carp caught. Tough times indeed. :think

Many thanks to Barry for taking time on Friday, to give me a detailed lesson in starting and feeding a new swim. I was, and probably always have been, guilty in overfeeding. Barry showed that even with a minimal amount of feed, it was possible to get the fish interested. I managed to get 2 good takes from carp, both unfortunately pulling free, from an otherwise "empty swim" thus proving his methods to be succesful. I later caught a nice tench to go with an earlier skimmer. I really enjoyed my day, and wish to openly thank Barry for his time and expertise.

Thanks Barry. :cheers
