Match Report:

Ten anglers took part in this match on a day with some rain some sunshine and little wind of note allowing for good presentation. The Main Loch out of all the match ponds has come into it's own as far as getting bites is concerned with the deeper water to work with and a high head count of feeding small silver fish which keep the floats going under.

With the fish being spread right along the bank it was always going to be a right interesting match with individual competition taking place and scores to settle from the previous week bringing out some great banter. The match was pegged peg to peg from Peg 9 to peg 18 along the Cafe Bank and was fished from 11am till 4pm a return to the proper match hours as darkness now falls at 4-30pm.

There was great anticipation from the anglers and hope from Ronnie MacLeod that the elusive 10Lb of Sivers barrier would be burst in a winter match. It was Darrin Ferguson fishing the feeder that started real well with a skimmer a chuck on his tip rod. He landed 4 out of 7 in the first 20 mins but alas it was not to be for Darrin.

Andrius Lekstutis Edinburgh's fast emerging all round angler spent the first half hour of the match fishing the tip rod to no avail. He didn't waste that half hour as he was feeding his up in the water swim constantly for his silvers assault. Sitting on the next peg to Andrius I was fortunate to witness his silver fishing prowess first hand. After 30 minutes Andrius started his silver fishing with his well drilled perfect presentation action that wastes no time between fish. He is always adjusting depths and follows the fish up and down in the water and moves them in and out with his feeding patterns.

Along in the high numbers James Woodrow who knows a thing about silver fishing had started his plan from the off and was steadily fishing catching all day long with his mentor Ronnie MacLeod sitting watching for the most of the day. As the match went on Ronnie was getting so excited as he was of the opinion that Woody was going to break his magical 10Lb barrier that he failed to observe the show further along the bank being put on by Andrius.

As the match went into the last two hours Andrius had managed to draw small skimmers to his swim which he had worked on all day after putting down his tip rod. From my position I estimated that Andrius had landed 14Lbs of silvers without any bonus fish. Ronnie was certain that Woody had got double figures. At the weigh in Ronnie called Woody's weight at 9Lb-2oz and was really disappointed not getting what he always wanted. I announced to Ronnie that Andrius had 14Lbs in his net. I was told I was wrong and was just thinking that as beside him his fish would look bigger to me. I stood by my guns.

Craig Duncan weighed in and had a brace of Bream which took his weight to 7Lb-14oz which gave him a good third place.

It was Andius to weigh in and as Woody walked up the bank towards the scales with the weigh net he announced that Andriua had double figures. The scales read 13 Lb-7oz and Ronnie MacLeod dream was made for him. He wasn't caring that he was wrong. This was a special match today and two great performances from Andrius and Woody with such weights without bonus fish.

Well done to both of them and to all who took part. Colin McKerrell paid tribute to Andrius asking him if he would take time out to give everyone a demonstration on his silver fishing which for the past 12 months has been something else.

Same again next week on the Cafe Bank where we hope for some more challengers.

Tommy Lauriston.

well done indeed Andrius, you are the master of the silver fish, which result do you rate the best this one or the Edinburgh match in November where you had over 20lb of silvers that was a cracking weight,

I was a witness to both performances. The weight at Orchill was around 25Lbs which consisted of far bigger fish. At Orchill again Andrius started off slow but once he got the fish going he had the skill to keep them feeding. Both performances were equally impressive. Andrius has plenty experience of Silver fishing and is no slouch on all the rod disciplines and is quickly matering the pole fishing. Just wait till he learns the pellet fishing which he is working on. A force to be reckoned on in the near future. :clap :clap

I think on both occasions I drew on the fish.
