Kevin has just turned 18 and
celebrated with his first big match win by taking the coveted title of
Barras Open Champion 2006. He also established a new Barras record
weight (36lb 13oz) with a superb catch of mainly Ide taken on worm and caster
on peg 10.
James Geddes made a welcome, and successful return to
Magiscroft with a great performance from unfancied peg 16 with a well
earned mixed catch. Young James Dornam also did very well for 3rd as did
Mitch who inclded a lovely big ghostie in his catch.

From the excitement at the draw (using many varieties
of quality fruit as draw cards!),
through the tension of the competition, a nail biting weigh-in, to the
excellent presentation buffet, everyone had a great time yet again.
This is
definitely the friendliest match around! Thanks to all who took
part and especially Derek Brady of the Barras Fruit Co. for continuing
his his
very generous sponsorship.
