THE BARRAS FRUIT COMPANY 'Pleasure Open' - 7th^th Sept 2003

Congratulations to Ross Clark, winner of the Scotland's first ever major open for pleasure anglers
(open to all except serious match anglers).  The match was the brainchild of Derek Brady, of sponsors
the Barras Fruit Company, who put up £150 in prize money plus trophies.  If the popularity and success
 of this event is anything to go by, there will be many more like this in future!

A limited maximum of 30 anglers contested the match, with many more disappointed people too late to
get tickets.  The atmosphere throughout the day was very special, friendly and relaxed, not like the usual
over serious experience of the top matches.  Ross took a three and a half kilo catch of mainly Ide
from the Island pond ... but the results are not as important as the good time had by all, before, during
and afterwards at the excellent presentation buffet.

Thanks again to Derek for making it all possible and showing the enormous potential for such events.
