Magiscroft Fishing Reports @ 27 October 2006

Unusually mild Autumn weather has kept fish feeding and all waters have been fishing well.  All the same methods and baits that worked through the summer are still producing.  Instead of frosts affecting the fishing, the occasional days of torrential rain are the only thing that have slowed down sport for a day or so afterwards.  As always, it's worth a check with Ronnie in the shop for the best advice on where to go and how to fish.

Island Pond

Still fishing very well for all species with pleasure anglers commonly enjoying over 30lb and up to 50lb catches. Carp are still feeding well with lots of F1s up to 3lb with Ghosties and Mirrors over 6lb.   Ide are also keeping people busy with  many fish well over 1lb.

All baits are still working and paste is popular for those targetting Carp though corn and pellets are successful too.

Top Pond

Continues to fish really well with small Carp the mainstay and Blue Orfe boosting catches.  The odd bigger Carp up to 3lb also make an apppearance.

Maggot and Pinkie are baits that are working well but the Carp will still take paste, corn and pellet.

Main Loch

Though the big catches of the Summer are not as common, pleasure anglers in the right place at the right time are enjoying great sport with a variety of species responding to all methods.  Carp are still most people's target fish and the bigger fish, over 3lb with many fish over 5lb, are giving anglers plenty of fighting action.

With the temperatures gradually cooling the fish are generally settling towards deeper water, over 12ft is often good, but they will still come shallow at times.  Feeder and Slider tactics are working as well as the pole now and you can usually choose your method and be confident of catching.

Paste is still working for those after Carp on the pole but all other baits are still good too.  The autumn is an interesting time of the year on the Main Loch, some fish will respond to almost anything you try, but you do need to experiment to make the most of how the fish respond on the day.
