Though the weather is taking it's time to warm up ... the fishing at Magiscroft is really hotting up with all of the waters fishing well and still improving rapidly. Great catches are being seen regularly now on all waters. It is still a Scottish spring though, and since Carp can still be focussed in certain areas when conditions are cool, this is the time to take advantage of being in the right place at the right time ! As always, it's worth a check with Ronnie in the shop for the best advice on where to go and how to fish.

Island PondConsistently gives the best fishing in Scotland and the Carp are feeding well responding to the methods and baits more familiar from the summer. Pellets and Paste are stating to be more and more effective along with Corn. Tommy Lauriston had a real 'Red Letter Day' with his best ever catch of well over 100lb including a 9lb 7oz Ghost Carp. Read his story and see the pictures here. Weather can still affect the fishing during cold spells but there are plenty of silver fish all round the pond and some great catches over 20lb of roach and chub have been taken as well as Ide to 2lb. Main LochCongratulations to Jordan Sweeney for catching one of the biggest Carp in Magiscroft ... a perfect 10lb 15oz Mirror Carp! Read the story of his catch and see the pictures here. Legering is still working well but the fish are moving around more now and good catches on the pole and waggler are being taken more regularly. Carp averaging 2lb with occasional fish to 6lb+ are still making up most of the weights, well over 20 lb not uncommon in pleasure catches. Corn is still working well for Carp and maggot is good for both Carp and Skimmer Bream to 1lb. The pole is not to be ignored though and there are plenty of silver fish closer in, sometimes as close as 3 or 4 sections out, 4 to 8ft deep. Skimmers on worm and maggot tend to stay deeper on a long pole line. Paste is starting to come into the picture again. Birch PondUp there with the Island pond for consistently good catches for pleasure anglers. Being out of the wind also helps give more comfortable fishing on bad weather days. Plenty of Carp to over 3lb, Ide & Orfe with catches now commonly over 30lb. Pellets and corn remain the best baits but all methods and bait will work here. Top PondStill giving busy fishing for smaller Carp, Orfe and Ide, ideal for beginners and kids. Railway PondThe best kept secret on the fishery but those in the know are starting to fish the pond more now for good catches of Carp, Ide and Orfe ... everyone expects the great head of big Tench to make their usual spring appearance very soon though!
