Main Loch
Carp and skimmers are dominating catches in the warm
temperatures and individual carp are nearly 4lb with 1lb fish
commonplace. Colin Chambers catch of 59lb 8oz is the best in the
last week and most of the pegs on the far side are capable of giving
up very big weights. Brian Clark broke the Main Loch match
record with this great catch of
31lb 8 1/2 oz.
Chopped worm has been effective for Carp but they
are taking most baits well. Skimmers are growing on well and fish to
2lb are being taken with 8oz fish plentiful. All fish have been
coming up into the top 3ft but with Autumn approaching be prepared to
go deeper after a cool night or if the water clears.
Island Pond
Brian Cochrane's new match
record of 34lb 2oz shows the continued improvement in the few
matches we allow, but pleasure anglers are getting the best of the
pond with big catches up to 50lb commonplace.
The fishing is very good now with Carp and Tench to
5lb along with plenty of Ide to 1lb keeping everyone busy.
Sweetcorn is back in favour with the Carp and Tench but Jelly Pellets
remain very successful also. Dougie Anderson took lots of Tench
to 4lb along with Carp on corn yesterday in a great day's
fishing. The Ide still love plenty of caster and worm.
Top Pond
Great fishing for mainly F1 Carp which are growing
fast with more fish topping the 1lb mark. If you get it right you can
catch one every cast. Jelly Pellets now catching best with maggots and
sweetcorn are as backup baits.
