Island Pond
Fishing continues to be excellent with great catches of Ide and
Carp showing strongly now and catches over 40lb
are common. Sweetcorn is coming into it's own as a bait and at times
you can catch well by feeding a few tins, so no
need to be stingy with bait at the moment. Pellet is also still very
successful for Carp and Tench up to 6lb.
Good catches of big Ide to over 1lb are still being taken with
Caster their favorite bait.
Top Pond
Warm weather has really switched the Carp on and the pond is
'fishing it's head off'! Many people are catching a Carp every cast
with F1s up to 1lb feeding ravenously.
Pellet is by far the best bait for Carp but Maggot is also good and
will catch the Ide and Orfe too.
Main Loch
The bigger skimmers are now feeding well after spawning so the Loch
is alive with feeding fish and pleasure catches are at their best
ever. Tony Ball and Paul Joyce had 50lb catches of first skimmers
followed by lots of carp in the mid 30s pegs last week. Saverio Petri
took the lead from a number of anglers in the know and fished peg 50
on Monday for another huge bag including Bream, Carp, Roach, Tench.
Pellet and Sweetcorn are becoming more and more successful for
Bream as well as the Carp and with the warm weather the fish are
coming up very shallow and close in too. The biggest Carp are over 4lb
and the odd 4lb Bream is also showing.
