Daren fished a tidy match to master the Island Pond,
on a day when the fish were very finicky, to take the 3rd Barras Open
title and £125 prize money. He had a good mixed catch of Carp and Ide,
taking most of his fish tight across to the Island on peg 9.
Billy Elliot had a late run of fish to take
second and included a last minute 3lb carp which he played out for 10
minutes after the whistle in front of a hushed crowd to gain a deserved
round of applause! Well done also to James Geddes who came third
in his first ever match with a nice catch of Ide.

From the excitement at the draw (using many varieties
of quality fruit as draw cards!),
through the tension of the competition, a nail biting weigh-in, to the
excellent presentation buffet, everyone had a great time yet again.
This is
definitely the friendliest match around! Thanks to all who took
part and especially Derek Brady of the Barras Fruit Co. for continuing
his his
very generous sponsorship.
