All who took part agreed that this was a very special,
unique and enjoyable event. The innovative format was the first of it's
kind in Scotland and will set a precedent for more matches like this in
future.
The event ran along continental lines and comprised
one 3 hour match, a break for some superb hot Italian food and wine,
then a re-draw before a second 2 ½ hour match followed by the prize
giving and more delicious Italian food and drinks.
The fishing was unusually hard though with 5 of the
pegs around the stages on the far side being blank all day. Davie
McAuley took advantage of his ideal draw but still fished very well for
2 mainly carp catches in a historic win to become the first CIBO Classic
champion.

especially his excellent food, much appreciated by the hungry
competitors on a hard day.
