All who took part agreed that this was a very special, unique and enjoyable event. The innovative format was the first of it's kind in Scotland and will set a precedent for more matches like this in future. The event ran along continental lines and comprised one 3 hour match, a break for some superb hot Italian food and wine, then a re-draw before a second 2 ½ hour match followed by the prize giving and more delicious Italian food and drinks. The fishing was unusually hard though with 5 of the pegs around the stages on the far side being blank all day. Davie McAuley took advantage of his ideal draw but still fished very well for 2 mainly carp catches in a historic win to become the first CIBO Classic champion.
Many thanks are due from all involved to Saverio Petri of Cafe Cibo for the original idea, super sponsorship prizes and especially his excellent food, much appreciated by the hungry competitors on a hard day. Results 1st Dave McAuley - 2 pts - 6.840 kg
