All of the participants voted the 3rd running of this continental
style open a tremendous success with a great format, atmosphere and
brilliant fishing. Despite very hot and still conditions this was the
best match yet on the Main Loch with the average weight just under 15lb.
Though a variety of fish were caught, Carp dominated the big weights. In
fact nearly everyone lost lots of big Carp - Ewan Weed played one fish
for 35 minutes, only to then lose it !
Kevin Murphy won the 2½ hour long first session with a super catch of
20lb 5oz, despite losing many big fish on peg 50. After an interval with
excellent food and drinks provided by Frieda in the cafe there was just
time for a re-draw and a frantic race to change pegs for the all
important 3 hour long second session.
The second session turned out to be even better than the first with
lots of good catches topped by Davie Corcoran with 25lb 3oz on peg 34.
That helped Davie to a 15 points total, the same as Colin Hart and Karl
Altdorfer ... but Davie took the honours, the cash, and the CIBO Classic
trophy with the highest total weight of 33lb 14oz. Well fished, and hard
luck to Colin and Karl.
After a super buffet everbody enjoyed a very sociable prize giving
presentation and the cold drinks vanished quickly after a very hot day !
Thanks to everybody who helped make such a super day, especially Frieda.
