Shaun Abbott with 16Lb-8oz Mirror Carp Main Loch Saturday

Yes our record fish is back feeding and it's still mid March. The Carp has put in an early appearance this year and has dropped a few ounces in weight over the winter as expected. The first person to weigh it in this year is Shaun Abbott from Spalding Lincolnshire. Shaun fished Peg No 10 of the Main Loch on Sunday 16th March 2014 and was rewarded by his biggest ever Magiscroft Carp weighing in at 16Lb-8oz.

On hooking into it Shaun was aware that it was a big fish and after using his angling skills for more than 30 minutes managed to net it. Shaun who was fishing along with his son was delighted in catching Magiscroft's biggest that that has been caught. Is it the largest carp in the pond, that is another issue as the regulars know at the height of the summer there are four biggies that swim up in the water together all looking 20Lb plus fish. Nobody to date has caught one, will this be the year for our ever growing band of specimen carp stalkers. Remember and call for the fishery scales and camera if you catch one as that's the only way you will be credited with a fishery record.

Well done Shaun on your excellent capture.

Tommy Lauriston.

Nice one! I'd be happy with one half the size.
Doesnt look the best of conditions either. :clap

Who cares about the conditions when you catch a fish that size Auld Reekie. ;)

I would have to agree Tommy, I fish in any weather.
It looks a bit grey and bleak in the photo, didnt look like conditions for fish being on the feed.
Never mind a fish of that quality.
Hoping to get over in april for a crack at the big ones. :sun
