Match Report:

Seven anglers turned out to fish today's open on the Island Pond. The match was double pegged both sides of the pond in the deeper water pegs.Low Numbers Pes 3, 5 and 7. High Numbers Pegs 22, 24, 26 and 28.
The match was fished from 11am till 4pm in dry very windy weather. The anglers on the low numbers suffered more from the winds.

It was Tommy Lauriston on Peg 22 that started off well and had a 2Lb mirror carp on first put in. When he stood up to net it the left front leg of his footplate was not tightened properly and collapsed and it was enough to cause Tommy to pull out the carp. That was the only mirror carp sighted on the day. Not despondent Tommy carried on and caught steadily all day long landing 72 Carp fishing up the shelf on the far bank rotating between 4 swims. All the swims produced all day. All fish caught on pellet. When the scalesman came round the catch weighed in at 39Lbs on the button. A great days Fishing for Tommy and the match win by a country mile.

In the second place, it was Andy Potts who like Tommy was on an end peg towards the shallower water. Andy caught a net full of Bream with some small carp and weighed in at 10Lbs-4ozs.

Third place went to Frankie McIlduff who is new to match fishing and has fished every match over the last month and is as keen as mustard. Not a big weight 1Lbs-8ozs but big enough to give Frankie 3rd Place and his first appearance in the frame in a match. Well fished Frankie, onwards and upwards.

Not much more to say than the fact that 1 fish Dougie Campbell continued his sequence of one roach catches. His Tip fishing is requiring a tip from today's winner. The Tip is to leave the tip at home Dougie. :bleh :bleh :bleh

Well done to all the framers.

Next match Sunday and should be on The Island Pond. The imponderable is the weather so keep watching John stead's updates on the thread which he will open soon.

Tommy Lauriston.
