Match Report:

Eight anglers turned out to fish the Wednesday Open on Halloween. The match was fished on the Top Pond from 11 am till 4 pm on a day that we had rain up until Midday and little wind of note. The cold kicked in for the last two hours of the match when the sun went down. The match was double pegged from Peg 5 right round to Peg 19.

Prior to the work on the Pond, the area from Peg 9 to Peg 13 was deeper water and the fish preferred to be there in the Winter. The renovation evened the depth out and still from the results it can be seen it is still back to normal Peg 11 wins and the weights reduce from Peg 11 down to the end pegs on either side. One exception Geoff Lowe, he never sticks to the script when fishing.

The anglers still require to catch the fish and Andy Potts did a great job. He only landed 50% of the fish he hooked so his weight should have been so much better. That said 16Lbs-5ozs is a respectable Top Pond catch in Winter. It was Dougie Campbell fishing Douglas Philips postal Code Peg 13 that fished himself into 2nd Place catching 8Lbs-10ozs, wait for it, on the Pole. Ian Sloss on Peg 9 completed the top 3 catching 5Lbs which included a perch weighing over 1Lb.

Well done to all the framers.

Photos will be added.

Sunday's match will be on the Island Pond. The thread has already been opened for names. Predicted Weather looks to be dry, minor winds and 6 degrees at this stage of the week.
