Match Report:

As anglers got to their cars this morning they knew it was going to be a hard day. Starting off your day out scrapping frost from your car windows does not go well for fishing. Six brave souls turned out to fish the match and credit to all everyone was still fishing when the all-out was called.

The match was double pegged from Peg 9 to Peg 19 and it was anyone's guess where the fish would be. Probably balled up but no angler was able to find them. In fact, Tommy Lauriston didn't find a bite and Dougie managed 4 bites but no fish. Bryan had one bite resulting in a 3oz fish.

The match was fished from 10-45am till 3-45pm in conditions that were wind free cold overcast a just a few spots of rain every now and then,

Not the best match ever but if you turn up in such conditions you are fully aware that you have to take the good with the bad and somebody or a few may land on the fish. Today neither happened, hard from start to finish. Same for all and it was up to the anglers to try and produce something for the net.

At the all in the first action of the day was Tommy scurrying to set up a landing net and put a keepnet into the water. In hindsight, he had made a correct decision in error prior to the match as he didn't need either.

Off the anglers who caught it was down to the weight or stamp of the fish they caught. Frankie had a Carp nearly 3Lbs in weight and that gave him the win as with his other fish he put 3Lbs-4ozs on the scales. Geoff had a few fish but could only muster 2Lbs-8ozs on the scales for second place. Wizzer had a couple of fish with a carp at 1Lb and weighed 1Lb-8ozs for 3rd place.

Not the best days fishing, a hard day on the Bank. I did serve the need for fanatics to fish. Others may have a better adjective than Fanatics. Well done to all for turning out and giving it their best.

Sunday's match will be posted up by John Stead soon.

Tommy Lauriston.
