Firstly a big thankyou from all the kids to Daiwa for their sponsorship and support of Junior fishing in Scotland and especially for the goody bags handed out at the start of the day. The kids also wish to thank George and Ronnie and all the staff at Magiscroft and volunteers without who the match would not have been possible.

Saturday morning arrived and so did 33 kids to fish for the titles on offer. It is great to see the youth of Scottish course Fishing gathered together all with the attitude taking part is what counts. Having worked with these kids I have to say that they are a real friendly bunch who look after each other and encourage each other on to catch fish. It's not the winning that counts for them in their informative years but it's the taking part that counts.

The match was fished over a period of 4 hours on the Main loch with 16 under 14s fishing the far bank between pegs 33 to 48 inclusive and 17 under 17s on the Cafe Bank between pegs 1 to 18 with peg 10 blank. The kids used every method of fishing they were allowed to carry out.

The following rules were imposed

No Hair Rigs
1/4 Kg worms
1pint castor
11m pole limit

The two winners above came from end pegs but at the extreme opposite ends of the Loch from each other. The Far bank was won from peg no 48 and the Cafe Bank won on peg 18.

In the senior section David caught Ide up in the water on the surface on maggot and laterly caught a Carp on the pellet wagler with maggot as bait. Gavin also used the waggler to good effect using maggot and feeding maggot.

In the junior section Josh was also using the pellet waggler feeding maggot and castor. sean caught his large Carp at the base of his keep net on single red maggot.

Young Caitlan caught her fish on the waggler feeding maggot.

Everyone enjoyed the full day and are looking ahead now to their Junior league which starts in two weeks time, it's a series of six matches fished every other Sunday. All juniors welcome.

Tommy.

i came 10th , fished in the older 1.it was a good match caught a mixture such as roach, skimmers, ide and perch . it was a hot day and all the fish were at the top of the water i used my pole and after the match changed to the rod and put on a waggler seen some carp swimming around at the top of the water made my setup a foot long and put on a piece of sweetcorn on and hooked a big 1 playing it for 5 to 10 mins then it got off, casted out and got another right away and lost that, casted out another time and got another finally got it in weighed just over 3lb. :)
to bad i never got that in the match

Nice report as usual Tommy, forgot to congratulate the winners in my earlier post so very well done to the winners.

Having said that I think all the juniors were winners yesterday, the attitude towards the competition and each other was great, the way they support each other even when they are fishing in a competition is a joy to watch. They all followed the weigh in and chatted about the day on the way round and then afterwards at the presentation even though I am sure a lot of them would have been dissapointed they were quick to congratulate those that won.

Well done to those people who give up their time to help and coach the juniors as well, without your help and support events like this just wouldn't happen. You can all give yourselves a big pat on the back as well.
